Role overview

This position involves managing a clinical caseload and delivering specialized medical expertise in aviation medicine at Etihad Airways’ medical centre in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that all air crew receive high-quality care compliant with local regulations and international standards, while determining fitness-to-fly status for pilots and other aviation personnel.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide specialized medical care in line with HAAD and Civil Aviation Authority regulations to maintain high standards and assess crew fitness for flight operations.
  • Respond to and manage medical emergencies within the medical centre, delivering appropriate clinical care to safeguard patient health and safety.
  • Participate in review and planning initiatives for specialist services to enhance operational efficiency across the medical centre.
  • Engage in medical audits required by Health Authorities and Aviation Authorities to maintain licensing compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Collect and analyse data on specialist services delivered, reporting key findings and insights to management.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and directives governing aviation medicine and preventative medicine to ensure consistent, regulation-aligned service delivery.
  • Establish clinical care pathways with healthcare partners to provide seamless services for air crew members.

Requirements

  • Minimum diploma in medicine (two years or longer) with post-graduation qualification in aviation medicine from an institution recognized by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi.
  • Current license to practise within the aviation medicine specialty issued by HAAD.
  • Minimum ten years of overall relevant work experience in the aviation medicine field.
  • Minimum five years of work experience in aviation medicine specialty within a clinical or hospital setting since obtaining your higher qualification.
  • Strong awareness and understanding of HAAD and GCAA regulations and standards.
