Role overview

Geotab, a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, is seeking a Senior Electronics Lab Technician to join its team in Dubai. The role involves preparing devices for network certification testing and building and maintaining manufacturing test equipment and fixtures that support the company’s Production and Automotive teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Build, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic production jigs and equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Assemble, program, and test Geotab GO and IOX devices, including soldering and desoldering components and assembling wiring harnesses.
  • Load firmware and run devices through test procedures to validate compliance with lab requirements ahead of network certification.
  • Document device details, procedures, best practices, templates, and tools for use across the team.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, mentor and train new team members, and support automation initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Test and Automation Engineering team, as well as Production and Automotive teams, to ensure equipment and test procedures meet quality standards.
  • Support global strategic initiatives across the Test and Automation function.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in electronics testing and troubleshooting with demonstrated troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics, with manual dexterity and comfort using test measuring tools.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
  • IPC Certification (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/IPC-7721, or IPC J-STD-001) is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with Google Suite.
  • A team player with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable operating in a flat organization.
