Role overview
Scalapay, a fintech company, is seeking a Merchant Onboarding Intern to join the Operations team for a 6-month placement in Milan. You will support the onboarding of merchants by processing and reviewing compliance documentation, ensuring a smooth experience as the company expands.
Key responsibilities
- Read, analyze, and process Know Your Customer (KYC) documents submitted by merchants.
- Review collected KYC information and make approval or rejection decisions based on internal policy requirements.
- Identify, analyze, and document any financial issues or irregularities that arise during onboarding.
- Execute day-to-day administrative tasks accurately and on time, coordinating with colleagues and other departments such as Sales and Legal to maintain compliance and prevent delays.
- Share insights and suggestions for process improvements with the team.
Requirements
- You are currently in your final year of study toward an economic degree or equivalent qualification.
- You are fluent in both Italian and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- You are data-driven and organized, with a methodical approach to work processes.
- You are a self-starter who takes initiative, works autonomously, and completes tasks without requiring detailed instructions.
- You have the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, actionable solutions.
- Prior internship experience in a regulated environment or background as a KYC analyst would be advantageous.
- Experience in a startup or scaleup setting, or fluency in an additional language such as French, Spanish, or Portuguese, would strengthen your candidacy.
