Role overview

Scalapay is a European fintech company seeking a Risk Analyst to take ownership of risk management for its subscription products. In this role, you will design and implement the decisioning logic that governs product eligibility and performance, working at the intersection of product innovation and risk control in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

Key responsibilities

Own the complete risk framework for subscription products, including eligibility criteria, decisioning logic, and the data signals that support them.
Serve as the primary risk contact for the Subscription team, identifying exposure early and helping shape product decisions before launch.
Design risk layers for new product launches from the outset, collaborating with product, engineering, and compliance teams.
Implement and maintain rules in the decisioning engine with clear documentation and measurable expected outcomes.
Build and monitor reporting dashboards tracking approval rates, losses, and fraud trends across your product area, then act on the insights they reveal.
Conduct post-implementation analysis on significant changes to compare expected versus actual results and determine next steps.
Investigate emerging fraud patterns, translate them into detection logic, and work with external fraud and identity data providers to strengthen prevention measures.

Requirements

Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Have at least two years of experience in risk, fraud, credit decisioning, payments, or comparable analytical work, ideally in fintech, buy-now-pay-later, or consumer lending.
Demonstrate proficiency in SQL and the ability to work independently in a data warehouse environment; Python experience is advantageous.
Show sound judgment in making decisions with incomplete data and the discipline to measure outcomes afterward.
Display genuine interest in both credit and fraud risk rather than a strong preference for one.
Communicate risk decisions clearly to both product managers and compliance reviewers.
Maintain high attention to detail and take strong ownership of your deliverables.
Speak English at B2–C1 level in both written and verbal communication; Italian is a bonus.
