Role overview

Xero is seeking a Senior Manager, Strategy & Operations to lead the company’s internal AI transformation and deliver strategic programs that shape long-term direction. The Strategy & Operations team sits at the centre of how Xero plans and executes, working across the business to translate ambitions into action and build the systems that enable other teams to do their best work.

Key responsibilities

Lead strategic workstreams supporting Xero’s internal AI transformation from initial scoping through to stabilization and adoption.
Translate AI ambitions into clear scope, requirements and delivery plans with measurable outcomes.
Structure ambiguous business problems into sharp questions and well-reasoned recommendations for senior leadership.
Build business cases and apply commercial judgement to investment decisions and trade-offs.
Coordinate across technical and non-technical stakeholders to close alignment gaps and maintain momentum on consequential initiatives.
Build credibility and influence to drive execution without relying on formal authority.

Requirements

Experience at a top-tier consulting firm is highly preferred, or comparable experience in strategy, operations, transformation or related roles within a global technology or SaaS environment.
Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs end-to-end from problem definition through delivery.
Strong structured and rigorous thinking skills with the ability to frame ambiguous problems into credible analyses and clear recommendations.
Background in operating model and technology transformation, with experience or aptitude in AI strategy or AI-enabled ways of work.
Strong financial and commercial acumen for building and interrogating business cases.
Polished and precise written and verbal communication skills, with deliverables that require minimal editing.
Demonstrated commitment to developing others through mentoring, giving candid feedback, and building team capability.
