Role overview

Scale’s International Public Sector team develops AI applications to address critical challenges facing governments worldwide. As a Staff Full-Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed), you will work directly with public sector clients in Riyadh to rapidly design and deploy full-stack AI solutions that serve millions of citizens. This is a foundational role shaping how the organization delivers transformative technology to the public sector.

Key responsibilities

Serve as the primary technical strategist for public sector engagements, translating mission requirements into detailed architectural strategies and overseeing onsite implementation.
Design production-grade AI application frameworks that integrate interactive user interfaces, backend systems, and AI models at scale with reliable performance.
Lead cloud infrastructure evolution to meet security, scalability, and long-term integrity requirements across global deployments.
Oversee development of core platforms and shared services that address cross-cutting needs for diverse international client use cases.
Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to guide the technical roadmap, mentor engineering staff at all levels, and ensure product alignment with cohesive architecture principles.
Convert real-world client lessons learned in the field into reusable patterns and best practices for the broader engineering organization.

Requirements

Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent deep industry experience architecting complex, distributed systems.
At least 10 years of full-stack development expertise in Python, Node.js, and React, with proven success designing high-scale architectures on Kubernetes and global cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Expert-level ability to design and oversee production-grade ecosystems meeting world-class standards for system integrity, security, and scalability.
Extensive experience deploying and troubleshooting sophisticated end-to-end solutions within complex, high-security client environments.
Demonstrated track record building LLM-driven solutions with strategic foresight to anticipate technology shifts and architect future-proof systems.
Self-driven leadership capability to resolve extreme ambiguity, mentor senior staff, and establish technical vision across the organization.
Strong commitment to asynchronous workflows and documentation-first practices that enhance global engineering efficiency.
