Role overview

Scale’s International Public Sector team is seeking a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed) to work in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will partner directly with public sector organizations to design and deploy full-stack AI applications that address critical challenges and deliver measurable impact for citizens. Scale develops reliable AI systems and provides the data and technologies that power leading models for enterprises and governments worldwide.

Key responsibilities

Act as the lead technical strategist for public sector engagements, translating complex mission requirements into detailed architectural plans and overseeing on-site implementation.
Design production-grade AI application frameworks that seamlessly integrate interactive user interfaces, backend systems, and AI models to deliver dependable outcomes at scale.
Guide the development and evolution of cloud infrastructure to meet security, global scalability, and long-term reliability requirements across all deployment environments.
Direct the creation of core platforms and shared services that address cross-cutting technical needs for diverse client use cases across the globe.
Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to shape the technical roadmap while mentoring engineers at all levels and ensuring products maintain alignment with a coherent, forward-looking technical vision.
Translate lessons learned from real-world client deployments into reusable patterns and best practices that strengthen the entire engineering organization.

Requirements

Hold a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, or demonstrate equivalent deep industry experience architecting complex, distributed systems.
Possess 10 or more years of full-stack development expertise with Python, Node.js, and React, with proven success designing high-scale architectures on Kubernetes and major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in designing and overseeing production-grade systems with exceptional standards for integrity, security, and scalability.
Have extensive experience deploying and troubleshooting sophisticated end-to-end solutions in complex, high-security client environments.
Show a proven track record building LLM-driven solutions with the strategic vision to anticipate technology shifts and architect systems built for the future.
Exhibit strong leadership capabilities in navigating extreme ambiguity, mentoring senior staff, and establishing technical direction for the organization.
Be committed to fostering asynchronous workflows and documentation-first practices that enhance global engineering velocity and collaboration.
