Job Overview
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts EMEA is seeking a Waiter / Waitress to support its food and beverage operations in Doha, Qatar.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing attentive and efficient service throughout the guest’s dining experience. The role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, maintaining dining areas, handling guest requests, and working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
The position is suited to someone with previous restaurant or hotel food and beverage experience who understands professional guest service and can work confidently in a busy hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and provide attentive, personalized service.
- Present menus, specials, and recommendations while answering questions about ingredients and allergens.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders using the hotel’s POS system.
- Communicate dietary requirements, allergies, and special requests clearly to the kitchen and bar teams.
- Serve food and beverages promptly while maintaining presentation and service standards.
- Recommend suitable food, wines, cocktails, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages when appropriate.
- Carry out professional dining techniques, including course-by-course service, table maintenance, silver service, and tableside presentation.
- Monitor guests throughout their meal and respond proactively to requests.
- Keep tables and dining areas clean, organized, and properly set.
- Handle clearing, resetting, polishing, replenishment, and other mise en place duties.
- Complete opening and closing duties according to hotel procedures.
- Prepare guest bills and process cash and electronic payments accurately.
- Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house colleagues during busy periods.
- Assist with banquets, private dining, room service, and special events when required.
- Promote specials, premium menu items, and hotel facilities through appropriate upselling.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, health, and workplace safety requirements.
- Maintain professional grooming, appearance, and uniform standards.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma, secondary education, or equivalent qualification.
Language: Good spoken and written English is required. Arabic language skills are an advantage.
Certification: Food safety or hygiene certification is preferred, or candidates should be willing to complete the required certification.
Experience
Previous experience as a Waiter/Waitress or in a Food & Beverage role within a hotel, resort, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment is expected.
Experience in an upscale or luxury hotel, fine-dining restaurant, international hotel, or high-volume restaurant is preferred.
Experience with the following would be an advantage:
- POS systems and guest payment processing
- Fine-dining service
- Wine and beverage service
- Menu and beverage recommendations
- Tableside service
- Formal dining procedures
