NMDC Is Hiring a Welding Engineer in Abu Dhabi, UAE

About the Role
As a Welding Engineer at NMDC, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for ensuring all welding activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Your background should include hands-on experience as a yard representative, client representative, or quality surveillance professional on shipyard and industrial projects. You will be expected to handle both complex newbuild construction and critical repair work, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, class rules, and international standards such as ASME, AWS, and API.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your core duties will include:
- Reviewing project specifications and applicable codes to develop welding procedures that guide production teams, covering material processes, pre and post heating requirements, complex alloys, and critical joint welding
- Developing and maintaining corporate Welding Procedure Specifications and Procedure Qualification Records
- Writing, qualifying, and certifying PQRs and WPSs for client review and approval
- Coordinating welding procedure qualification with metallurgical testing laboratories and witnessing the welding of test coupons
- Reviewing and approving supplier welding procedures and performance qualifications
- Providing technical support on industry standards including ASME, AWS, and API
- Contributing to failure and root cause analysis on welding related issues
- Witnessing and supporting performance testing activities
- Maintaining a safe working environment at all times and reporting any observed safety hazards promptly
- Participating in welding research and development efforts in line with company goals
- Evaluating new developments in welding technology for potential application to existing processes or challenges
- Collaborating with engineering personnel and external agencies to exchange technical knowledge on welding matters
- Conducting experimental welding to assess new equipment, techniques, and materials
- Applying non-destructive testing methods to verify and maintain welding quality
Qualifications Required
Candidates applying for this role should hold:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- A Welding Inspection Certificate such as CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2
- NDT Level II certification
