Role overview
Wealthsimple, Canada’s leading financial innovator, is seeking an Associate in Physical Security to join the Corporate Physical Security and Protective Services team within the Regulatory division. You’ll be based at the Toronto headquarters and serve as the primary point of contact for security matters in the office, helping the team balance proactive security culture building with responsive day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the main security contact for employees, visitors, and on-site guards, managing visitor check-ins, temporary badge issuance, and addressing immediate security concerns.
- Develop and deliver the company’s security awareness program, creating content and leading training on badging, visitor protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Investigate workplace incidents such as access violations, thefts, and disturbances, documenting findings and escalating sensitive matters appropriately.
- Manage access control systems and video management platforms, processing badge requests, deactivations, and identifying system anomalies or gaps.
- Coordinate with on-site security guards regarding daily coverage, compliance with post orders, and shift handovers, reporting vendor issues as they arise.
- Support emergency preparedness initiatives including floor warden coordination, conducting drills, and developing risk assessments for company events.
- Assist with executive protection and travel security logistics when needed.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of professional experience in physical security, risk assessment, emergency response, customer-facing communications, or a related field.
- Post-secondary education in security management, risk management, criminal justice, communications, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate tense situations with clients, visitors, or employees while maintaining composure and discretion.
- Strong written communication skills to produce clear incident reports, procedures, and security advisories.
- Sound judgment to manage multiple priorities, handle routine matters independently, and recognize when escalation is necessary.
What makes this role worth considering
You’ll join a small, collaborative security team embedded within a fast-moving fintech company serving over 4 million Canadians. This role offers the opportunity to shape security culture proactively rather than simply react to problems. Wealthsimple provides comprehensive benefits including top-tier health coverage, 20 vacation days plus 4 wellness days, unlimited sick and mental health days, the ability to work outside Canada for up to 90 days annually, and access to employee resource groups. Note that this position requires five days per week in the Toronto office and is not eligible for remote work.
