Role overview
Tamara is a leading buy now, pay later fintech platform serving over 25 million customers and 130,000 partner merchants across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As a Merchant Field & Marketing Intern, you will be Tamara’s on-ground presence in assigned partner stores, ensuring the brand is visible, understood, and actively recommended by store teams. This is a field-based role requiring you to spend most of your time visiting stores, building relationships with staff, and gathering real-world insights from the checkout experience.
Key responsibilities
- Visit assigned merchant stores on a planned route and schedule, checking that all Tamara signage, display materials, counter cards, and promotional items are properly placed, accurate, current, and in good condition.
- Brief and train store managers, accountants, cashiers, and sales associates on how Tamara works and how to communicate it clearly to customers, maintaining strong relationships so the brand remains top-of-mind between visits.
- Identify and resolve simple execution gaps, escalate missing materials or operational blockers, and flag recurring issues to the wider team for support.
- Gather frontline insights from store employees about customer questions, objections, checkout drop-off rates, competitor activity, and opportunities to improve conversion.
- Maintain an accurate directory of key store contacts across management, finance, checkout, and sales teams, and log every visit with full details of tasks, staff met, training delivered, issues found, and follow-up actions.
- Capture approved photos and short videos for Tamara’s marketing and user-generated content, subject to proper consent and merchant approval.
- Submit weekly reports summarising store coverage, improvements achieved, risks identified, recurring insights, and priorities for the following week, while scoring stores against Tamara’s evaluation framework and tracking progress over time.
Requirements
- Ability to work reliably in the field, visiting stores on a consistent schedule and managing a planned route independently.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to brief store teams confidently and gather insights through conversation.
- Attention to detail and organisational ability to maintain accurate visit logs, contact directories, and weekly reports.
- Willingness to represent Tamara professionally, respect merchant operating hours, and adhere to compliance standards including obtaining approval before capturing content and securing proper consent for any photography or recording.
- Ability to identify issues quickly, escalate them appropriately, and follow through on resolutions.
What makes this role worth considering
This internship offers a structured 90-day programme with weekly performance reviews and clear feedback from day one, so you will understand your priorities and have practical support to improve. You will work directly at the heart of how customers discover and use Tamara in real stores, giving you insights into fintech adoption, customer behaviour, and retail operations that few interns experience. The role demands reliability and quality execution, but offers genuine responsibility and the chance to make a visible impact on how Tamara is perceived and used by both merchants and customers.
