Role overview

Wealthsimple, Canada’s leading financial innovator serving over 4 million Canadians, is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Growth Data team within Data & Engineering. This full-stack role focuses on driving new user acquisition and deposit targets through data-driven optimization across marketing channels including paid, organic, and branding initiatives.

Key responsibilities

Build data products and algorithms that optimize marketing performance across budget allocation, targeting strategies, and campaign optimization on multiple channels.
Design and implement measurement strategies for marketing initiatives, including attribution modeling, incrementality analysis, and multi-touch attribution approaches.
Drive marketing strategy through data insights, A/B testing, and causal inference methodologies to maximize return on marketing investment.
Develop and maintain analytics pipelines and data infrastructure in collaboration with data engineers and other data scientists.
Conduct exploratory analysis to identify growth opportunities, understand customer behavior, and optimize marketing tactics.
Provide ongoing analytics support through reporting, dashboards, and ad-hoc analysis for marketing stakeholders.
Partner with ad platforms and internal engineering teams to ensure robust tracking, data integration, and measurement capabilities.

Requirements

Demonstrate understanding of digital marketing mechanics including attribution, ad platforms, tracking, and conversion optimization.
Possess experience working with lifecycle data and knowledge of how different customer acquisition and engagement channels work together holistically.
Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in Python and SQL with the ability to build production-quality code.
Show proven track record in algorithm development, optimization problems, or building data-driven decision systems.
Have a strong foundation in causal inference, A/B testing, and experimental design methodologies.
Communicate effectively and translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrate ownership as a data domain owner on complex end-to-end projects with understanding of business context and cross-functional collaboration.
