Scale is seeking a Software Engineering Fellow to join the Human Frontier Collective, a program that brings together top researchers and domain experts to advance high-impact AI research. As a fellow, you will collaborate on projects that evaluate and improve advanced generative AI systems while contributing to the broader mission of developing reliable AI for critical applications.

Key responsibilities

Engage in high-impact collaborative projects with AI labs and platforms to design and evaluate complex, domain-specific problems and datasets.
Provide expert insights and analysis to enhance the accuracy, reasoning, and performance of AI models.
Participate in the interdisciplinary HFC community, connecting with innovators and thought leaders across different domains.
Co-author technical reports and research papers with Scale’s research team to contribute to published academic work.
Apply your coding and analytical expertise to rigorously test and interpret advanced AI systems.

Requirements

At least 5 years of software engineering experience or equivalent domain expertise through academic work such as a PhD, postdoctoral research, or faculty position in Computer Science or a related field.
Demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages including Python, Java, Rust, Swift, JavaScript, or C++.
Strong analytical abilities and a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Passion for applied AI research and commitment to collaborative work.
Authorization to work in Canada; visa sponsorship is not available.
