Role overview

Tamara is a leading fintech platform across Saudi Arabia and the GCC region, serving over 25 million customers and 130,000 partner merchants with financial solutions in retail, travel, education, healthcare, and other sectors. This Merchant Acquisition Specialist position is based in Jeddah and focuses on expanding Tamara’s merchant network through direct field engagement and relationship management.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify and approach potential merchants at their physical locations to introduce Tamara’s services and explain partnership benefits.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with merchants by understanding their specific needs and positioning the company’s offerings as solutions to their challenges.
  • Conduct in-person product demonstrations at merchant sites and address concerns to secure new business partnerships.
  • Gather market intelligence including competitor activities, merchant feedback, and observations about in-store marketing visibility to inform company strategy and product development.
  • Guide qualified merchants through the application and onboarding process to ensure successful partnership transitions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of internship or co-op experience in sales or business development, with no more than 2 years of total experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective engagement with merchants and colleagues at all levels.
  • Solid organizational abilities and attention to detail in managing multiple activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with familiarity in CRM software preferred.
  • A valid KSA driver’s license is required.
  • Self-motivation and goal orientation combined with eagerness to develop expertise in the BNPL sector.
  • Adaptability and resilience to perform well in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while maintaining a collaborative, positive approach.
